This fish is a grouper in the family serranidae. It is most likely to be a yellowfin
grouper, Mycteroperca venenosa, but this identification cannot be stated with
certainty. Both the yellowfin and the yellowedge grouper have a yellow margin to
their pectoral fin but the yellowfin grouper has a dense covering of small red spots
over its body. This grouper lives around Bermuda, Florida, the southern Gulf of
Mexico, and the southern Caribbean sea. It reaches a maximum length of 3 feet and
a maximum weight of 20 pounds.
