The Barracuda and Vulpis Bahamensis

$70.00
The top illustration shows a barracuda, genus Sphyraena. The fish illustrated cannot
be identified to species. There are 4 species of barracuda in the warm waters of the
Western Atlantic. The largest is the great barracuda, which is found almost
worldwide in tropical waters and grows to a weight of over 100 pounds.

The lower illustration is not of a barracuda because all barracuda have two short and
widely spaced dorsal fins. The arrangement of the single dorsal fin, the abdominal
pelvic fin, and the small mouth suggests that this is a bonefish, Albula vulpes.
Bonefish are great sport fish renowned for their fighting ability on the end of a line.
They grow to 10 pounds and are found worldwide in shallow tropical seas.
