Lifting a Print from the Press
After each passage through the press, the plate is cleaned and re-inked for the next impression.

The à la poupée technique (literally 'with a dolly') was invented in the seventeenth century for colour printing from a single plate. It is the most skilled and time-consuming of all the intaglio printing techniques.
