No dates or localities have been located to pinpoint when and where Bauer drew this specimen of
the blue swimmer crab as seen from above. Its distribution is widespread throughout the
Indo-Pacific so it could have been captured from many different places.
It is the most common edible crab in the world and in Australia it is fished commercially.
