In this painting of a lizard killed at Seal Island, King George Sound, Western Australia on 22
December 1801. Bauer has introduced shadows to give the picture a three-dimensional aspect.
Today, the King’s Skink is only found on the coast of south-western Western Australia and the
islands off it.
