It is likely this bird was seen when the Investigator stopped at Strong Tide Passage, Queensland
in August 1802. It is interesting to see that it was not named officially until 1832 when the honour
fell to the English poet and artist Edward Lear.
This subspecies occurs today in southern Queensland and in New South Wales.
