Joseph Ewan points out that these two flowers do not grow in the same area and
therefore, Bartram could not have seen the Befaria and the Elliottia together. Although
there is no doubt that the plant Elliottia is correctly identified, Bartram describes the
flower incorrectly as evergreen.
