In his description of this fish to Dr. Fothergill Bartram describes it of “beautiful
appearance in the clear water of the springs in E[as]t Florida, the sides of a light
yellow, speckled with brown, red and green, as it were powdered with gold and Silver.”
Report to Fothergill. Bartram names this fish The Great Golden Speckled Bream.
