Banks Florilegium, Part 13, Plate 277

Grevillea pteridifolia (Proteaceae)

Line engraving by Gerald Sibelius, after Sydney Parkinson (1770) and John
Frederick Miller (1773).

Joseph Banks and his party saw this species at:
Point Lookout, Australia (1770)
Endeavour River, Australia (17 June - 4 August 1770)

This tree occurs in coastal and inland areas across tropical and subtropical
Australia. In Queensland the common name is golden parrot tree since the
attractive sprays of yellow flowers, produced from June to September, attract
many nectar-eating birds, especially lorikeets.
